Plasma faucet: free testnet XPL

Fund your wallet. Build on Plasma.

Get free testnet XPL from the Chainstack Plasma faucet. Pay testnet gas, deploy Solidity contracts, and test wallet and payment flows before moving to Plasma mainnet.

Connect to Plasma Testnet with chain ID 9746. Testnet XPL has no monetary value and cannot pay mainnet fees.

Connect to Plasma RPC

Read an account’s XPL balance through the Plasma JSON-RPC API with eth_getBalance.

HTTPS · JSON-RPC requests
https://plasma-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID
WebSocket · live subscriptions
wss://plasma-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID

Create a Plasma node and copy your HTTPS URL from Access and credentials. Replace YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID with your endpoint ID. This documented request works on mainnet and testnet.

Plasma Mainnet
curl --request POST \
  --url https://plasma-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID \
  --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  --data '{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "method": "eth_getBalance",
  "params": [
    "0x742d35Cc6634C0532925a3b844Bc454e4438f44e",
    "latest"
  ]
}'

The hexadecimal result is the native XPL balance in 18-decimal units. For USDT balances, call the token contract’s balanceOf function with eth_call.

What is Plasma RPC?

Plasma RPC is the API your application uses to read Plasma blockchain data, call smart contracts, and submit signed transactions. Plasma is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 built for stablecoin payments, using Reth for execution and PlasmaBFT for consensus. Chainstack provides managed Plasma JSON-RPC endpoints for mainnet and testnet.

How do I get a free Plasma RPC endpoint?

Create a free Chainstack account, create a project, and deploy a Plasma Global Node on mainnet or testnet. Open Access and credentials to copy your HTTPS and WebSocket URLs. The Developer plan includes 3 million request units per month, up to 25 requests per second, and one node. No credit card is required.

What are the Plasma mainnet and testnet RPC URLs and chain IDs?

A Chainstack Plasma mainnet endpoint follows https://plasma-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID; testnet uses https://plasma-testnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID. Copy your complete authenticated URL from your node’s Access and credentials. Mainnet uses chain ID 9745; testnet uses 9746. Both use XPL as the native currency. See the Plasma network settings.

Can I connect Plasma RPC to MetaMask, ethers.js, or web3.py?

Yes. Plasma supports Ethereum-compatible tooling, including MetaMask, ethers.js, web3.py, Hardhat, and Foundry. Use your Chainstack HTTPS endpoint and the matching chain ID. In MetaMask, use Connect wallet from your node’s access details, or add the network manually. Follow the Plasma tooling guide for configuration examples.

How do I read USDT balances and transfers on Plasma?

Call the USDT token contract’s balanceOf function with eth_call to read a token balance. Use eth_getLogs to retrieve historical Transfer events and WebSocket subscriptions for live contract logs. eth_getBalance returns native XPL, not USDT. Follow the Plasma USDT monitoring tutorial for contract details and examples.

Are all USDT transfers on Plasma free?

No. Plasma’s zero-fee USDT transfer feature uses specific authorization-based payment routes; it does not make every ERC-20 transfer or smart contract call free. The official mainnet rollout initially limited these routes to Plasma’s own products. Standard transactions use XPL for gas. Check the current Plasma network fee documentation and zero-fee transfer rollout before designing a payment flow.

Does Plasma RPC support WebSockets?

Yes. Chainstack Plasma nodes provide WebSocket endpoints alongside HTTPS JSON-RPC. Use subscriptions to receive new blocks and contract logs without repeated polling. For USDT payment monitoring, subscribe to the token contract’s Transfer events. See Plasma API documentation and the USDT monitoring guide.

Can I access Plasma archive data and Debug & Trace APIs?

Yes. Plasma archive access and Debug & Trace APIs are available from the Growth plan. Query historical balances and contract state, inspect internal calls, and diagnose reverted transactions with methods such as debug_traceTransaction. These features are not included in the free Developer plan. Check Plasma method availability and plan features.

Which Plasma node option should I choose?

Choose a Global Node for geo-balanced RPC access without managing infrastructure. Add Unlimited Node from the Growth plan for flat-fee access within a selected RPS tier. Choose Dedicated Nodes for isolated compute and storage, available from the Pro plan with infrastructure billed separately. Check current node configurations and pricing for available Plasma deployments.

Can I run a self-hosted Plasma node?

Yes. Chainstack Self-Hosted supports Plasma mainnet and testnet in full-node mode, pairing Reth with a PlasmaBFT observer. Deploy on infrastructure you control with monitoring, automated updates, and self-healing operations. Follow the installation guide and check supported clients and protocols for current requirements.

Where can I get free Plasma testnet XPL?

Use the Chainstack Plasma faucet to request testnet XPL for gas, contract deployment, and application testing. Connect your wallet and application to Plasma Testnet with chain ID 9746. Testnet XPL has no monetary value and cannot pay fees on Plasma mainnet.

Plasma RPC API: chain IDs, methods, and integration

Connect your application to Chainstack’s Plasma HTTPS endpoint to read account balances, query token and contract state, estimate gas, and submit signed transactions. Standard methods include eth_getBalance, eth_call, eth_getLogs, eth_getTransactionReceipt, and eth_sendRawTransaction. Use WebSocket subscriptions for new blocks and contract logs. See the Plasma API reference for supported methods and request examples.

Plasma mainnet uses chain ID 9745; testnet uses 9746. Both use XPL as the native currency. eth_getBalance returns XPL in 18-decimal units; read USDT balances through the token contract’s balanceOf function with eth_call. Connect MetaMask, ethers.js, web3.py, Hardhat, or Foundry using the network settings in the Plasma tooling guide.
