Chainstack introduces X Layer Global Nodes support

We’re excited to announce that X Layer is now available on Global Nodes. X Layer is OKX’s Ethereum Layer 2 built on the OP Stack, and it has been available on Chainstack as Dedicated Nodes. You can now also deploy X Layer Mainnet and Testnet on shared, geo-balanced Global Nodes, in Archive mode, plus debug_* and trace_* APIs on paid plans.

Why build on X Layer?

X Layer is an Ethereum Layer 2 built by OKX on the OP Stack. It started as a Polygon CDK chain and migrated to the OP Stack in October 2025. Today it gives builders in the OKX ecosystem a standard EVM environment for DeFi, trading, and payments applications that need fast confirmation and low fees without leaving the Ethereum security model.

  • OP Stack: X Layer settles to Ethereum through the OP Stack, with a sequencer operated by OKX and a fraud-proof challenge window.
  • One-second blocks, OKB for gas: X Layer produces a block every second under chain ID 196 on Mainnet and 1952 on Testnet, and fees are paid in OKB, whose supply is capped at 21 million after the August 2025 token burn.
  • Full EVM compatibility: Solidity and Vyper contracts, ethers.js, viem, Foundry, and Hardhat work on X Layer without modification.

For developers, X Layer behaves like any OP Stack chain: standard JSON-RPC and standard contracts, plus one detail to know. Pending transactions stay with the sequencer, so eth_subscribe("newPendingTransactions") delivers nothing and txpool_status always reads empty. See the X Layer tooling guide for chain configuration and fee behavior.

Build better with X Layer on Chainstack

Running X Layer on Chainstack gives you reliable access and predictable performance for DeFi applications, trading infrastructure, indexers, and payment apps. Chainstack provides:

  • Global Nodes — geo-balanced RPC endpoints for scalable, low-latency access to X Layer Mainnet and Testnet
  • Archive data — Global Nodes serve both networks in Archive mode, so historical state and logs are available without a separate node
  • Debug and trace on paid plans — debug_* and trace_* namespaces, served by xlayer-reth, OKX’s Reth-based OP Stack execution client, for transaction replay and call tracing
  • Dedicated Nodes — still available in Archive mode on Mainnet and Testnet when you need single-tenant resources and more control over node configuration, on the Pro plan or higher
  • Standard Ethereum JSON-RPC — HTTPS and WebSocket endpoints that work with any EVM toolchain you already use

Both X Layer Mainnet and X Layer Testnet are available on Global Nodes. On Mainnet, standard reads serve the full chain history, including blocks from before the October 2025 migration to the OP Stack.

How to get started with X Layer on Chainstack

Deploy new node screen in the Chainstack console with XLayer selected
  1. Log in to the Chainstack console (or create an account)
  2. Create a new project
  3. Select XLayer as your blockchain protocol
  4. Choose Mainnet or Testnet and Global Node
  5. Deploy the node
  6. Open Access and credentials and copy your HTTPS and WebSocket endpoints

Want the details first? See the X Layer tooling guide for MetaMask, ethers.js, viem, web3.py, Foundry, and Hardhat setup, and the debug and trace APIs page for what is available on X Layer.

Bringing it all together

With X Layer now on Global Nodes alongside Dedicated Nodes, Chainstack extends its OP Stack coverage to OKX’s Layer 2. Whether you’re building DeFi and trading products, indexing onchain activity, or running payment apps on X Layer, Chainstack provides the archive-capable, production-grade RPC infrastructure to scale with confidence.
