Learn more about XRP Ledger
What is XRP Ledger?
XRP Ledger is a payments-focused Layer 1 blockchain launched in 2012, running the rippled client with native JSON-RPC and WebSocket APIs. It features 4-6 second consensus finality, sub-cent transaction fees, and a built-in decentralized exchange with automatic path-finding across currencies.
How do I get an XRP Ledger RPC endpoint?
Create a free Chainstack account and sign in. Click Add node, select XRP Ledger, choose Mainnet or Testnet, and deploy a Global Node. When the node is running, open Access and credentials to copy the HTTPS and WebSocket endpoints.
What is the difference between an XRP Ledger Global Node and a Dedicated Node?
An XRP Ledger Global Node provides shared, auto-scaling RPC access through geo-balanced infrastructure. A Dedicated Node provides isolated rippled compute resources, predictable performance, and greater control over node configuration and history retention depth.
Does XRP Ledger use a native token?
Yes. XRP is the native currency of XRP Ledger, used to pay transaction fees and as a bridge asset in the built-in decentralized exchange. Fees are sub-cent under normal network conditions.
Is the XRP Ledger RPC API compatible with Ethereum?
No. XRP Ledger uses its own JSON-RPC and WebSocket API rather than the Ethereum eth_* interface. Methods like account_info, account_tx, submit, and book_offers match XRPL’s transaction-type architecture. For Solidity contracts, XRPL EVM Sidechain is a separate chain.
What are the uptime and performance guarantees?
Chainstack Global Nodes and Dedicated Nodes are built for highly available, low-latency production access. Dedicated deployments can include a 99.99% uptime service-level agreement, subject to the selected plan and service terms.
How can I monitor XRP Ledger node usage and performance?
Use node analytics on Chainstack to track request volume, response time, and node health from one place.

Notes for XRP Ledger API

XRP Ledger uses its own JSON-RPC and WebSocket API, not the Ethereum eth_* interface. Use the official xrpl.js or xrpl-py libraries for Node.js and Python respectively. XRP Ledger Mainnet consensus reaches deterministic finality in 4-6 seconds with sub-cent transaction fees. Endpoints: HTTPS https://xrpl-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/{key}, WSS wss://xrpl-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/{key} (and xrpl-testnet for Testnet). Standard methods include account_info, account_tx, tx, ledger, submit, submit_multisigned, book_offers, path_find, amm_info, server_info, and fee. Subscription methods are WebSocket-only. Global Nodes serve recent ledgers (~1 month retention); full historical queries are available on Dedicated Nodes with the full-history configuration.

You can also access XRP Ledger through the Chainstack MCP server — query onchain data, deploy nodes, and search Chainstack docs from Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, ChatGPT, Codex, Pi, Gemini, or any MCP-compatible or SKILL-compatible AI agent.
