Learn more about Sui
What is a Sui RPC endpoint?

A Sui RPC endpoint connects your application to Sui network data and transaction execution. Chainstack provides managed gRPC endpoints for mainnet and testnet, with GraphQL available on mainnet Global Nodes. Use the official Sui SDK to read objects and balances, simulate transactions, and submit signed transactions.

How do I get a Sui RPC URL?

Create a Chainstack account, deploy a Sui mainnet or testnet node, and open Access and credentials in the console. Copy the node endpoint and credentials. Use the HTTPS URL with gRPC-Web, or the native gRPC host on port 443 with the x-token header. On mainnet Global Nodes, append /graphql for GraphQL queries.

Is Chainstack Sui RPC free?

Yes. The free Developer plan includes one node, 3 million request units per month, and 25 requests per second. No credit card is required. You can use Sui gRPC and gRPC-Web on mainnet and testnet, and GraphQL on mainnet Global Nodes. Paid plans offer larger allowances and access to additional infrastructure options.

Should I use gRPC or GraphQL for Sui?

Use gRPC for typed data lookups, transaction simulation and execution, and checkpoint streaming. Use GraphQL for filtered and paginated mainnet queries, such as transactions by address, events by type, and objects by owner. GraphQL runs at /graphql on mainnet Global Nodes and uses the same node credentials. It does not provide subscriptions.

Does Chainstack support Sui testnet?

Yes. Chainstack supports Sui mainnet and testnet nodes with native gRPC and gRPC-Web. GraphQL is available on mainnet Global Nodes; Chainstack does not currently provide a Sui testnet GraphQL endpoint. Use testnet when developing and testing transactions before sending them to mainnet.

What happens to Sui JSON-RPC?

Sui is removing JSON-RPC from the full-node code starting with v1.82. Build new integrations on gRPC and GraphQL, and migrate legacy JSON-RPC calls using the Chainstack Sui migration guide. Use gRPC for execution, typed lookups, and checkpoint streaming; use mainnet GraphQL for filtered query workloads.

Can I stream Sui transactions and events?

Sí. Utiliza SubscriptionService/SubscribeCheckpoints on the Sui gRPC endpoint to receive checkpoints and process their transaction and event data. Use checkpoint sequence numbers to track progress and recover after interruptions. GraphQL supports filtered mainnet queries but does not provide subscriptions.

Does Chainstack provide Sui archive data?

Sui mainnet Global Nodes provide Extended history for retained checkpoints, transactions, and object versions. This is not a full archive from genesis. Check the current retention floor with LedgerService/GetServiceInfo or GraphQL serviceConfig.availableRange before running a backfill. Filtered transaction and event queries have a rolling history window of up to 90 days.

What is the difference between a Global Node and a Dedicated Sui node?

A Global Node gives your application a geo-balanced managed endpoint without choosing a single deployment region. A Dedicated Sui node runs on isolated resources for workloads that need their own infrastructure capacity. Dedicated Nodes are available starting from the Pro plan, with infrastructure billed separately. The calculator shows current mainnet and testnet full-node pricing.

Can I use Unlimited Node for Sui?

Yes. The Unlimited Node add-on provides unlimited requests within the throughput tier you select, with fixed monthly add-on pricing. It is available starting from the Growth plan. Unlimited refers to request volume, not unlimited requests per second. Your paid plan and add-on are billed separately.

Can I run a self-hosted Sui node?

Yes. Chainstack Self-Hosted supports the Sui node client on mainnet and testnet, with deployment and operations on infrastructure you control. Follow the installation guide to configure your own deployment. The self-hosted software is free; you provide and pay for the underlying infrastructure.

Is Sui compatible with Ethereum JSON-RPC?

No. Sui uses an object-based data model and Move smart contracts. Ethereum eth_* methods, EVM chain IDs, and Ethereum Debug & Trace APIs do not apply to a Sui endpoint. Use Sui-native gRPC or GraphQL APIs and compatible Sui SDKs instead.

Where can I find a Sui faucet for testnet tokens?

<p>Use the <a href=”https://faucet.sui.io/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>official Sui faucet</a>, select Testnet, and enter your Sui wallet address. Follow the faucet’s current request requirements, then connect your application to a Sui testnet RPC endpoint. Testnet SUI pays gas for development transactions and has no monetary value. It cannot pay mainnet fees.</p>

Sui RPC: gRPC and GraphQL APIs

Connect your application to Chainstack’s Sui RPC endpoint using native gRPC or gRPC-Web. Use the HTTPS endpoint with the @mysten/sui SDK, or connect a native gRPC client over TLS on port 443 with the node’s x-token. Chainstack supports gRPC on mainnet and testnet. See the Sui gRPC connection guide.

Use gRPC for object and balance lookups, transaction simulation and execution, and SubscribeCheckpoints streaming. Mainnet Global Nodes also provide Sui GraphQL at /graphql for filtered and paginated queries. GraphQL is not available on Chainstack Sui testnet nodes and does not provide subscriptions.

Build new integrations with Sui-native APIs rather than Ethereum eth_* methods. For historical queries, check the endpoint’s available range: retained Sui history is not a complete archive from genesis. Use the Sui JSON-RPC migration guide when updating an older integration.
