Connect to Aptos RPC

Read account information through the Aptos REST API with a simple HTTPS request.

HTTPS · REST API
https://aptos-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID/v1

Create an Aptos node and copy your HTTPS URL from Access and credentials. Replace YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID with your endpoint ID. This example reads the 0x1 framework account on either network.

Aptos Mainnet
curl --request GET \
  --url https://aptos-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID/v1/accounts/0x1 \
  --header 'Accept: application/json'

The response contains the account’s sequence_number y authentication_key. Reading account data does not send a transaction or spend APT.

Preguntas frecuentes
What is Aptos RPC?

Aptos RPC is the node API an application uses to read Aptos blockchain data and submit signed transactions. Aptos full nodes expose an HTTPS REST API, rather than Ethereum-style JSON-RPC. Chainstack provides managed endpoints for Aptos mainnet and testnet. See the supported Aptos methods.

How do I get a free Aptos RPC endpoint?

Create a free Chainstack account, create a project, and deploy an Aptos Global Node on mainnet or testnet. Open Access and credentials to copy your HTTPS endpoint. The Developer plan includes 3 million request units per month, up to 25 requests per second, and one node. No credit card is required.

What are the Aptos mainnet and testnet RPC URLs?

Your Chainstack endpoint uses https://aptos-mainnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID for mainnet or https://aptos-testnet.core.chainstack.com/YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID for testnet. Replace YOUR_ENDPOINT_ID with the ID from your node’s Access and credentials. Append the REST path, such as /v1/accounts/0x1. Mainnet uses chain ID 1; testnet uses 2. Follow the Aptos tooling guide.

Can I use JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python with Aptos?

Yes. You can call an Aptos REST endpoint with JavaScript fetch, Python requests, or cURL. For account management, Move calls, and transaction building, use the Aptos TypeScript SDK or Python SDK with your Chainstack full-node URL. Aptos uses Move, so Ethereum libraries such as ethers.js are not substitutes for the native Aptos SDKs. See the Aptos SDK documentation.

How do I read balances and call Move functions on Aptos?

Use POST /v1/view to execute read-only Move view functions, including the relevant balance function for your asset. Use account resource endpoints to inspect onchain state. Balances depend on the asset’s decimals: APT uses 8 decimals, so 1 APT equals 100,000,000 octas. Check the Aptos API methods before building balance and portfolio queries.

Can I simulate and submit Aptos transactions?

Yes. Use POST /v1/transactions/simulate to inspect execution results, VM status, and gas usage before broadcasting. Submit a correctly signed transaction through POST /v1/transactions, then query its hash to check the outcome. Simulation does not commit the transaction to the blockchain. Payloads must follow the Aptos transaction format. See the supported transaction methods.

Does Chainstack provide Aptos archive data?

Yes. Aptos mainnet archive access is available on paid plans from Growth. It supports historical queries for account resources, transactions, and ledger versions. Full requests consume 1 request unit and archive requests consume 2. Classification depends on the method and how far back the request reads; account transaction history is always classified as archive. See Aptos request-unit rules and plan features.

Does an Aptos RPC endpoint include WebSockets, GraphQL, or gRPC?

A Chainstack Aptos node provides the full-node REST API. Aptos Indexer GraphQL and Transaction Stream gRPC are separate services in the Aptos ecosystem, not interfaces included with this REST endpoint. Do not configure an Aptos node as an Ethereum WebSocket or JSON-RPC connection. Compare the interfaces in the official Aptos API overview.

What is the difference between Aptos Global Nodes, Unlimited Node, and Dedicated Nodes?

A Global Node gives your application geo-balanced access to shared Aptos infrastructure. Unlimited Node is a paid add-on from Growth that replaces per-request billing for that node with a fixed monthly RPS tier. Dedicated Nodes provide isolated compute and storage, with infrastructure billed separately, and are available from Pro. Compare node options and plans for your workload.

Where can I get Aptos testnet APT?

Use the official Aptos testnet faucet to request test APT, then connect your application to an Aptos testnet endpoint. The faucet requires Google sign-in. Testnet APT is for development and has no monetary value; it cannot pay mainnet fees. Chainstack’s faucet portal does not currently list Aptos.

Aptos REST API and RPC endpoints

Connect your application to Chainstack’s Aptos HTTPS endpoint through the native REST API. Read accounts and resources, query blocks and transactions, call Move view functions, and submit signed transactions. Common paths include /v1/accounts/{address}, /v1/accounts/{address}/resources, /v1/view, y /v1/transactions/simulate. See the Aptos methods reference for supported endpoints and the Aptos tooling guide for connection examples.

Aptos mainnet uses chain ID 1; testnet uses 2. APT pays network gas fees and has 8 decimals: 1 APT equals 100,000,000 octas. Use the Aptos TypeScript or Python SDK to build native transactions, or call the REST API directly. Full requests consume 1 request unit and archive requests consume 2, according to the Aptos request-unit rules.
